COURSE DESCRIPTION

CHEM 43.1 is the first organic chemistry laboratory course for undergraduate students under the BS Chemistry and BS Agricultural Chemistry curriculum.  It is through this course that the students are first introduced to the basic techniques used in the isolation, purification, and characterization of organic compounds derived from plant sources.  Taken as a corequisite of CHEM 43, this laboratory course facilitates learning by allowing the students to investigate the physical and chemical properties of the different types of hydrocarbons through various experiments.
