Welcome to Instrumentation and Process Control and Dynamics (ChE 170). Process control is a critical element in chemical process industries. Its scope and importance are continually expanding as a result of global competition, fast-changing economic conditions, faster product development, and more stringent environmental and safety regulations. Therefore, chemical engineers need to have a very good understanding of this subject along with its allied field in process modeling to design and operate modern plants.  ChE  170  is an introductory course that will provide you with fundamental knowledge of process dynamics and control theory. In particular, the course will emphasize the systematic approach to deriving process dynamic models, developing a feedback control system, and analyzing the stability or predicting the occurrence of unstable responses in the design of a control system.
